Hans van Dam, CEO and Founder, CDI
In 2018, Hans co-founded the Conversation Design Institute to establish processes, techniques, and organizational standards to professionalize the role of conversation design within large enterprises.
Since then, the organization has expanded globally with offices located in Austin and Amsterdam, along with an international team based across Africa, Asia and Australia.
CDI provides industry leading courses and certification across a number of conversational AI disciplines along with services including auditing, consulting and training services to organizations looking to improve their conversational AI capabilities.
Hans also sits upon the board of CDI Foundation, which is focused undertaking research, education and industry development, along with providing scholarships to help people from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds enter the CAI industry.
Jurgen Gravestein, Conversational AI Consultant, CDI
Jurgen has a background in Philosophy and Creative Writing. He was employee #1 at Conversation Design Institute. Together with his colleagues, he has trained over 100+ conversational teams worldwide working with organizations as varied as Lidl, Pepsico, Vodafone, Rabobank and Mercedes to name a few. He frequently advises clients on their conversational AI vision and implementation strategies.
Michelle Parayil, Head of Academy, CDI
Michelle Parayil is a Conversational AI specialist with over 7 years of experience in the enterprise CAI space.
An engineer by degree, she has worked as a solution designer and UX expert for companies such as CDIS and Jio Haptik.
She currently works with the Conversation Design Institute team in Amsterdam as the Head of Academy and also helps enterprises establish and scale their Conversational AI Product strategy.
Since 2017, she has designed over 100 virtual assistants, founded the Conversation Design team at Jio Haptik, authored multiple playbooks on virtual assistant design, and enjoys evangelizing the growing AI space in the UAE.
Yam Marcovitz, Tech Lead, Parlant.io
Formerly a software architect at Microsoft and Apex.AI, Yam brings a unique combination of deep technical expertise and systems thinking to AI development.
With extensive experience in high-performance computing and system architecture, including building realtime systems with microsecond-level precision for autonomous vehicles, Yam understands what it takes to create reliable, production-grade software. This background informs his distinctive approach to AI development in Parlant—an open-source framework that fundamentally reimagines how we control AI agent behavior.
Drawing from his experience in both low-level systems optimization and high-level architectural design, Parlant introduces a structured system for guiding AI behavior that emphasizes flexibility, precision, reliability, and practical development workflows, reflecting Yam's commitment to building robust, production-ready systems.
