The CxD 1 Certificate boosts your career by validating your conversation design expertise. It demonstrates your mastery of user-centered principles, from understanding user needs to crafting engaging dialogues and iterating on designs. This credential sets you apart from the competition, enhances your employability, and positions you for advancement in the exciting field of conversational AI.
The CxD 1 Certificate exam evaluates your knowledge of conversation design principles through multiple-choice questions. The exam typically takes around 50 minutes to complete, and a score of 70% or higher is required to pass. You have one opportunity to retake the exam if you do not pass on your initial attempt.

At CDI you decide how to learn and when you want to get certified. This means that it is possible to take the exam as a standalone option, without a prior subscription. But we recommend that you subscribe to the Course Subscription first in order to gain the knowledge needed to pass the exam with flying colors.
To follow the CxD 1 courses you must subscribe to the Course Subscription. This will give you unlimited access to all course content and modules - not just the CxD 1 modules!
Once you feel ready to get certified, just purchase the CxD 1 exam, complete it and earn your CxD 1 certificate.
If you don’t pass the final exam, you can reach out to student support and request personalized feedback and recommendations for further studying. When you feel confident you can request one retake.
Your initial exam purchase includes one free retake. If you require further attempts, each subsequent retake will need to be purchased separately.
There is no mandatory waiting period before you can retake the exam. That said, we really encourage you to take a little time to look over the feedback from your last attempt and brush up on the course materials before trying again. It'll definitely boost your chances of passing!
